Red Wing Aces 7 Stewartville-Racine Sharks 0

Brady Schroeder tossed eight shut out innings, scattering five while striking out seven and walking just two batters as the Aces advanced to the winners bracket finals on the Region 5C tournament with a win over the Sharks at Dartts Park in Owatonna.

Kyle Hawe retired the side in order in the top of the ninth to secure the win.

The Aces had 12 hits in the game with every starter getting at least one hit.  Dixon Irwin had two doubles and an RBI.  Corey Tauer had two hits and an RBI. Josh Thygesen also had two hits and an RBI and Adam Thygesen added a two run double.

The Aces were flawless defensively while the Sharks had three errors, including two in the bottom of the fifth inning when the Aces scored three runs to take a 4-0 lead.

Red Wing is 21-14 on the season and advances to the Region 5C final round Sunday at Dartts Park with the pre-game show at 11:45am and the game at 12pm on Bluff Country 1250 KCUE/KCUE 99FM and on-line at www.kcueradio.com with Jack Colwell.

The Aces will find out who they play by the end of the day today.  The team that advances to face the Aces would have to beat Red Wing twice Sunday to get the #1 seed out of Region 5C and a first round bye next weekend in the State Class C Amateur Baseball Tournament.

Here is today’s schedule:

10am:  Cannon Falls vs. Wanamingo (elimination game)

1pm:  Lake City vs. Austin (elimination game)

4pm:  10am game winner vs. 1pm game winner (elimination game)

7pm:  4pm winner vs. Stewartville-Racine (loser is the #3 seed for Region 5C at the state tournament.  Winner advances to face Red Wing Sunday at 12pm)
