Former Winger Toivonen signs with Seahawks

Travis Toivonen will get a chance to make an NFL team.

Toivonen graduated for Red Wing High School in 2016 and was a standout receiver in football and forward on the state tournament basketball team.  He went on to play four years of college football at The University of North Dakota and put up impressive receiving numbers, graduating in 2020.

He played January through March of this year in the seven-on-seven Fan Controlled Football League and in April participated in a University of Minnesota Pro Day, giving football scouts a chance to look for talent.

The Seattle Seahawks called late last week and he flew to Seattle Sunday and had his workout Monday.  What a workout it was.  Tuesday morning he signed a three-year non-guaranteed contract and is on the Seahawks 90 man roster.

Toivonen participated in Seattle’s organized team activities Tuesday and the current sessions will run through next week.
